One of Kenya’s highest national honours, conferred by the President of the Republic of Kenya for distinguished service to the nation and to the Church.
Received in 2018, in recognition of his service.
Feted as an honourable cleric on Kenya’s day of heroes.
Celebrated by ministers and the nation at KICC, with a prayer for Kenya.
A trusted peacemaker during the 2007–08 post-election crisis and in every season since.
Born in 1946 in Bomet County, he answered the call early and was ordained a pastor in 1964, becoming one of the pioneers of the Deliverance Church in Nairobi.
He started Deliverance Church Eastleigh, the mother church, and received the leadership of the wider Deliverance Church from Apostle Joe Kayo in the late 1970s. He served as General Overseer for 22 years.
Ministers he raised went on to lead: Bishop J.B. Masinde pioneered Deliverance Church Umoja, Rev. Philip Chelule now leads Deliverance Church Eastleigh, and Bishop Mark Kariuki succeeded him as General Overseer.
Peacemaker, mentor to young people and, at 80, planner of a 480-kilometre walk from Nairobi to Mombasa. Today he is Patron of Finishing Well Foundation, still Bishop of the church he began.
